The number one selling RPG of all time is the Final Fantasy series.  It has sold more copies than many other RPG series combined.  Square started with the Final Fantasy series in 1989 with the first Final Fantasy for the Nintendo.  From there they have made more 18 different Final Fantasies for different systems and have become known as the RPG gaming leaders.
